The following information is specific to the State Corporation Commission and the Circuit Courts for Counties and Independent Cities in Virginia.
The Pettit Company Inc provides public records research, including but not limited to: UCC, Federal Tax Lien, State Tax Lien, Judgment, Pending Suit, Real Property, Asset and Corporate searches. The Pettit Company Inc is a Member of the National Public Records Research Association (NPRRA) and a Charter Member of the Public Record Retriever Network (PRRN).

Virginia is a dual filing state in regard to the Uniform Commercial Code.  See the notes below to determine the proper place for filing or searching based on the type of collateral covered.
The Pettit Company Inc provides public records research, including but not limited to: UCC, Federal Tax Lien, State Tax Lien, Judgment, Pending Suit, Real Property, Asset and Corporate searches. Accounts Receivable (farm); Consumer Goods; Crops; Equipment (farm); Farm Products;   General Intangibles (farm) -- File in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court where deeds are admitted to record, in the county or city of the debtor’s residence.  If the debtor is not a resident of Virginia, then file in the office of such clerk in the county or city where the goods are kept, and in addition, when the collateral is crops growing or to be grown, in the office of such clerk in the county or city where the land is located; and if the crops are grain there shall be a further filing in the office of the State Corporation Commission.  Grain is defined as and includes corn, wheat, rye, oats, barley, milo, soybeans and sunflower..

All other types of collateral -- File in the office of the State Corporation Commission and in addition, if the debtor has a place of business in only one county or city of Virginia, also file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court in which deeds are admitted to records of such county or city, or, if the debtor has no place of business in Virginia, but resides in Virginia, also file in the office of such clerk of the county or city in which he resides.

The standard UCC form is 8½ X 11.  All jurisdictions accept non-standard forms without penalty fees.
